INSANITY – Week 4 Review
Week 4 Day 1 – Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs
Yesterday was rest day yet I hurt my neck from doing nothing!! Can you believe that? I can’t really turn my head to the sides but I pushed on and did Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs.
Week 4 Day 2 – Cardio Power & Resistance
My neck pain is still bothering me and it has affected my sleep. Maybe that’s why I’ve been feeling crappy and it definitely showed during the workout today. I only did 20 minutes of Cardio Power and had to call it quit. Went to bed early so hopefully I’ll feel better soon.
Week 4 Day 3 – Plyometric Cardio Circuit
I was able to really push it and my neck wasn’t bothering me that much. I recently ordered Purple Wraath BCAA — a kind of amino acid recovery drink. I read a bunch of reviews about it and it comes highly recommended. I got it yesterday just in time for my workout. I mixed one scoop with 20 oz of water and drank maybe one third 15 minutes before the workout and the rest during the workout. I found myself keeping up with not only the form but also the pace/reps with those people in the video for at least 25 minutes. The last 5-10 minutes before the cool down was the toughest and I took a little break there but overall I think I brought it. I was smiling during the workout thinking that “hey, maybe I can be in one of those videos :)”.
Week 4 Day 4 – Cardio Recovery
I made serious mistake when I skipped Cardio Recovery last week and replaced it with P90X weight training. I was missing out on some fantastic core and endurance work!
I’m myself not to monkey with it but to give it my all. Cardio Recovery might seem a lot “milder” than the other Insanity workout but it’s actually not that easy. Many poses require and will improve your core and endurance.
Note to self: don’t ever skip it again!
BTW – I still added about 15 minutes of P90X shoulders and arms in the end. I did it so that I could experiment more with the Purple Wraath BCAA drink. Normally, I lift 30 lbs dumbbells for the curls but last night I tried 35 lbs and did 4 sets of 10. The most I’ve done before was 2 sets of 8 but I was able to do it plus other tricep moves. It’s still too early to form my conclusion on this drink but I’m seeing some good results so far.
Week 4 Day 5 – Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs
Don’t wish for it, we have to work for it! I kept this in mind when I did Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs. Since my wife and sister-in-law were using my man-cave do their Insanity, I had to move my workout to foyer temporarily 🙂 And it wasn’t carpeted! I had been working out without wearing shoes so this was kind of a first for me that I have to put on shoes to workout.
There was definitely more impact because of the tile floor even I had my shoes on. I could feel more impact. However, I was able to somehow push hard and jump higher!
Well tonight is Plyo Cardio Circuit and rest day tomorrow YAY! I can’t wait for the recovery week next week
Week 4 Day 6 – Plyometric Cardio Circuit
This is the last workout for the first month which I’ve done many times before but the thought going into the rest day and starting the recovery week next week made me work harder. Can’t wait to start the recovery week!
